Picture Rock…

February 20th, 2008 by Cliff

So without even doing a 70.3 Ironman race, I have signed up for another: Rhode Island.  I’m hoping to make it to the World Championships this year and I figure this will be my shot to do it.  California will serve as good practice and maybe, I’ll wind up qualifying there.  Oh well, two chances should be good enough!

As promised I got some great shots from yesterdays ride.  Lots of cyclists out as it is a popular loop!  It ended up being a shade over a 100K so a good endurance ride.

Little house in the desert

I biked near Mountain Park to begin the journey.  This lead to some great views although there was no shoulder to ride on!  I was lucky to have a car from Massachusetts covering my back!

Leading up to Mountain Park

A quick descent led to the great plains.  This was similar to my ride last week.  Nothing but dirt and cacti!

For all you cow people

Middle of nowhere

After about 30K this led to Picture Rock.  Popular with cyclists and motorists.  The riding was fair at best.  Nice scenerey but terrible pavement.  They really need to redo this section of road!

Honestly, I was dissapointed in the views.  I’m not really sure what I was expecting, maybe a giant rock shaped as a picture.  Mt.Lemon has much better views in my opinion!

No mishaps on this ride, just steady riding in the sunshine!

If you haven’t checked out the site (www.livemultisport.com) for the new videos here is a trailer for this weekends adventure, going to be a dandy!  http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3278778773614277428&q=Trip+of+a+Lifetime+-+Trailer+%2B+Cliff&total=1&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

Happy Trainin!  Back to the hills tomorrow!
