Another Day at the Office…

February 19th, 2008 by Cliff

I guess looking back on the day it seemed a bit extreme.  Got off to an early start with a swim just as the sun was coming up.  Today I ran over (about 6K there).

Did a 2K swim workout (250, 1000, 500, 250).  Again my times are coming down which is great to see at this point in the season.  Jumping out of the pool I jogged home and then ate a big breakfast!

After some computer work I was back running to the gym for a spin class at noon.  Spinning is something that I don’t fully get into as I learned today.  I like to just spin or to those that have never done one, just ride the bike.  Spin bikes have no gears just tension.  They have a free hub which means the wheel spins as fast as your legs do.  Ever seen one of those old style bikes with the huge front wheel and the little back one?  Well the technique is the same as a spin bike; you can only go as fast as your legs can spin.

Spin classes usually do things to tone the overall body.  Great for people who get tired of riding monotonously or who like a change of pace.  Me, I like them soley because you can work on your pedaling.

Anywho!  I got a good workout and ran home after.  Giving me 2 hours of running for the day, 2K of swimming and a spin class!  As I sit here typing this up I feel really good.  I liked how the day was split up.

Tomorrow, is a longer day in the saddle; almost 4 hours.  I’m going to be riding in Old Tucson (West).  Should get some great shots.  Here is a taste of that is to come!

Thanks for reading, Happy (Sunshine) Trainin!

Great job with the swimming. Pea green with envy … we’re making the most of the pool in Lunenburg but your situation would be sweet! Suns out here — 8C and we could get out for a ride (as long as you do it in the next 4 hours before the cold returns :-(
