A Weekend For Charity…

Cycle for Art

Hi Folks,

After taking some time off last week, the wheels were in motion for "Cycle for Art" which my Dad (Tom Rogers) was the chief organizer.  The ride was to consist of a 25K, 50K and 100K bicycle ride around the beautiful Lunenburg County area.  This was a charity ride with all the proceeds (over $7,000 raised!) going to the newly opened Dr. Arthur H. Patterson Centre for Restorative Care in the Lunenburg hospital.  I was in charge of leading the front group of 100K riders.  Although this was a "fun" ride I had my inclinations that there maybe a few that thought it was going to be a race.  Turns out it was only my brother on the last 10K that proved these thoughts correctly!

If you have never cycled this part of the world I encourage you to do so.  Lots of ocean and great scenery.  Plus, getting to stop at the Lahave Bakery for fresh baked goodies is a must.  For some this was there first time doing the designated distances.  I think the hat should come off to my Dad who did an amazing job for putting on this ride!  As far as I know this will be an annual ride so sign up for next year!

This was followed up by the year end Bridgewater Triathlon party at my folks house.  It was my turn to be the primary beneficiary!  Money was being raised for me to go to the Long Course Duathlon World Championships in RichmondVirginia.  I can’t thank everyone enough for the support I have got this year!   I just wish I could wear my BTC jersey at the race so it could get more exposure in different areas of the world!

On the long car ride home back to Fredericton I was thinking that in about 1 month, the season for me will be over.  A break will be nice but I am excited to see what new boundaries I can push this body too!

Thank you very much again!  Happy training everyone

Cliff
