15 Weeks…
You know when your a kid and you get that chocolate advent calender before Christmas? Each day you get to open up the tiny door representing the day and eat a chocolate. As you get closer and closer to Christmas you become more and more excited.
In a nutshell, thats kinda what I feel right now. Except I have 15 weeks of eating chocolate till the World Championships. All let you in on a secret though, I usually just gave my chocolates away… or never bother opening the doors!
After 2 weeks of resting, the most I did was commute to work, I was back at it yesterday. I went swimming in the morning which was painful as I got stuck in the fast lane (but moved myself out rather quickly!). After the swim I commuted to work by bike and did the same home in the evening.
I grabbed a quick supper and headed out to the gym where I’m starting to get into some weights. I combine high tension cycling intervals with plyometrics and weight lifting. It caused me to be super stiff at work today!
This truly was a full day (especially for my first back!). I slept well waking up early for some track stuff. It was a beautiful morning and it reminded me why I do these crazy things. The workout seemed to pass by rather fast and I was off to work again!
Most of the month of August will be low intensity but high volume; a great way to enjoy the summer while it’s still light out. The fall is where I’ll stress intensity and cut back on the amount of exercise.
For now though, it’s just one foot in front of the other!
Here is a video I made to send me off for Worlds. If you can’t watch it please click here.
Happy Trainin!
