Big Day, Easy Week…

June 15th, 2008 by Cliff

With the new j o b I had to make some minor tinkers to the schedule.  The big change that had to be made was the time trialing which was suppose to be Friday but will now be moved to the weekend.  I found that my brain was too fried after work which meant I wouldn’t bring my A game. Moving it was a good idea.

This is week…  uh… 3 to go so I think week 6.  Wow time flies!  So today was the longest of any of the previous weeks with 2 x 20K with a 5 min rest in the middle.  I was impressed at how fast each interval whizzed by.  Increasing by 10K each week is definitely the way to go.

The day was bright an sunny with a slight wind. This was the second best week for time trialing as the Ottawa breeze was kept pretty much in check.

First interval went off well reaching my 10K turnaround point in 37.1 average and finishing in 36.6 Km/h.  Second set started slow but finished well stopping the clock with an average of 36.1 Km/h.   Heartrate got lower as the time wore on which was nice.

I finished the workout by cycling home and doing an 8K run over to my gym.  The best part of this whole workout was definitely sitting in the sauna at the gym with the legs up.  Sweat off a few more pounds!

So 3 more weeks!  I’m excited to get my hands on a read time trial bike.  My numbers so far have been ok.  Having race wheels, helmet and a TT bike should make my times go way down.  I’m excited for that.

Happy (Holu Heck It’s Almost Monday) Trainin!
